A fantastic photographer has been coaching me on shots. He is one of those “I picked up a hobby and there is no halfway” personalities.
Part of that is framing the shot. Here are 3 of the same shot at different crops. A cherry blossom on an old roof. I like 1 and 3. I just can’t decide which I like best? Although number 2 shows the roof top. In the end .. went with number 1.
Opinions appreciated on which way you would go?
Configuration: Canon 5D Mark III, Canon 28-70mm f/2.8.
I agree with your choice on #1
I prefer number 3. Subject is more isolated. 🙂
I also prefer number one, shows the delicate smallness of the flower and also gives it some context. I also like the texture/pattern on the leading edge of the wood.
I prefer #3. The like the bokeh in the background a bit more. It is very pleasing to look at and helps my eye to dance around the photography. I find the green triangles a bit distracting and a draw out of the photography. All in all they are all great but I would go with #3.
Thanks all. Dave grabbed me and shared what he was taught at a course … The biggest item being no triangles as triangles draw and control the eye, which is why he voted 3.
Learned something new.
